There are lots of ways to get involved either as

  • as a food producer, and / or
  • as an event sponsor

This event is set on a stunning 10 mile circular trail with views that will take your breath away.  We want to ensure that we reach as many people as we can to promote our wonderful area and to let local people know how their support is helping our local hospital charity.

Our huge thanks go to our main sponsor Marsdens Devon Cottages, and to St Johns Garden Centre, Orchard Farm Shop, Medicare South West, Webbers Estate Agents, Boden Fire & Security, John Smale & Co, Brends Hotels, Isca Elevators, Swimbridge Jubilee Hall, Beach Field Car Park, the National Trust, Parkdean Holidays, Christies Estate, Killard-Levy Estate, North Devon Biosphere, Devon County Council, Georgeham Parish Council, Braunton Parish Council and the 29 landowners and tenant farmers whose land we pass along the route … you have made it happen!

A big thank you also to our volunteers and stewards including Barnstaple Round Table, Ilfracombe Ladies Circle and Barnstaple Camera Club.

local producers

We are absolutely delighted that Rob Cooper and Liz Wilton from  Orchards Farm Shop at St John’s Garden Centre in Orchard-Farm-proprietors-LiBarnstaple are helping us to co-ordinate our local foodfest supplies for this event.

The event has 12+ food stops on the trail, and there are opportunities for local food suppliers to offer their produce at one of the stops. We are delighted that so many local producers have come on board and would like to thank them for their fantastic support – without them this event would not be possible.  To see a full list go to the food trail map.

Producers will have the opportunity to have a direct link to their website and we will ensure your name is promoted within our event marketing.  We want this event to be a great opportunity to promote delicious local foods that are produced on Devon’s doorstep, while raising funds for our local hospital charity to benefit patients across North Devon.

We are aiming to attract up to 300 participants. Each food or drink portion only needs to be a morsel as a full size portion of anything would leave our runners and walkers struggling to get to the finish!  For example, a canapé size bite or cocktail sausage, 50ml of cider or a very dainty scone with a dash of cream would be perfect.  To find out more on how you can take part, please contact Rob Cooper at Orchard Farm Shop on  info@orchardsfarmshop.co.uk or phone him on 01271 324294.

This event is supporting “Over and above”, the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust Charity Cancer and Wellbeing Appeal.  With the amazing support from the people of North Devon, the charity has raised over £2.5million to build a magnificent new chemotherapy and day treatment unit which treats 9,000 patients our service sees every year, £250,000 to equip our Special Care Baby Unit with the latest state of the art equipment which is “over and above” what the NHS can provide.  We will of course also continue to support our other 93 trust funds so that we can help patients in all the specialties that our hospital cares for.

Go on, come and be part of it.
Together we are making it happen.
