Supporting a charity isn’t always be about money. You can also be generous with your time. Volunteering for any charity is a hugely sociable and rewarding activity, and working with Over and Above has the added benefit that your efforts will make a real and positive impact to patients in your local NHS organisations.
We‘re looking for volunteers for a wide range of activities such as:
Library Trolley Assistants
Meeting and Greeting Patients
Nutrition Mealtime Assistants
End of Life companions
Gardeners (for the Seamoor Unit)
Whatever you‘d like to do to help, and however much time you‘ve got to spare, we‘d love to hear from you.
How to become a volunteer
Contact the Over and Above office at the Northern Devon Healthcare Trust for an application form to fill in. You will then be invited to come to the hospital and discuss the opportunities that are available.
Before you can become a volunteer you will need to be health screened, and references will be checked. If you will be working on the wards a Disclosure and Barring Service check (DBS) will be needed.
Unfortunately, we can only offer volunteering opportunities for people living in northern Devon or within easy commuting distance of our hospitals, as we cannot arrange accommodation.
