The North Devon Cancer Care Counselling Service is based in the Over and Above Fern Centre on the main site of NDDH.

There is a huge amount of information to digest when diagnosed with cancer which could leave you with lots of questions and things on your mind which may not be answered during your appointment.
Nutrition Information
The Fern Centre has a lot of information available about how to maintain a healthy diet and nutrition during and after cancer treatment. This includes information about healthy eating as well as recipe books for your to take away and try.
Financial advice
You can access free advice from the Macmillan (Citizen’s Advice) Benefits Advisors who run weekly appointments at The Fern Centre. The financial advice outreach facility is available every Tuesday morning and Friday afternoon.
Hair loss support
Our wig service at the Fern Centre is provided by lovely ladies from Natural Image Wigs based at John Lewis who are highly trained and experienced stylist specialising in creating the perfect style unique for you.Â
Bra fitting support
Our Bra service at the Fern Centre is provided by a highly experienced bra fitter who works for Nicola Jane, a specialists company providing bras, swimwear and prosthetics to post surgery breast cancer patients.
Support to relatives and carers
A cancer diagnosis can have a huge impact on a patient’s family or carer and that is why at the Fern Centre we also offer a range of support which they can freely access.
Look good, feel better
We work with Look Good Feel Better, a cancer support charity, to run monthly sessions to help boost the physical and emotional wellbeing of women undergoing cancer treatment. We also hope to set up sessions for men focused on skincare and grooming.
Exercises classes
Keeping active can also be extremely beneficial to patients during their cancer journey which is why at the Fern Centre we have introduced some low impact exercise classes which patients can access free of charge.
Breathing and Meditation
Breathing exercises and meditation can be hugely beneficial to help reduce stress, promote calmness and relaxation. Meditation can also promote emotional health and aid with anxiety as well as lowering your heart rate and blood pressure.Â
