Facilities & Accomodation

Facilities & Accomodation

The Fern Centre is a purpose built building designed to promote the well-being of cancer patients and their families.  It has been designed with a welcoming open plan entrance allowing a cosy comfortable area for you to sit and enjoy a cuppa, spend time with our volunteers, enquire about other services or just relax.

The Centre also offers emergency accommodation for relatives and carers of patients staying at North Devon District Hospital.  For more information about our accommodation, please follow the below link.

Inside the Centre

On the right hand side of the building are two complementary therapy rooms designed and furnished to promote relaxation so you can get the best from your therapy sessions.

We also have a large meeting room where the majority of support groups and exercise classes are held.

At the far end of the corridor are two counselling rooms where one to one adult counselling takes place as well as counselling for children.

To the left of our Centre is a small meeting room which can be a quiet area to sit away from the open plan seating area should you need some privacy and will also host our MacMillan financial advice clinics and some pre-counselling sessions.

Outside the Centre

The Fern Centre will also have open access to a lovely garden which is currently being designed by volunteers and patients.  The garden will include a quiet space to relax as well as communal area to socialise with others.  It will have a sensory garden, raised beds and a potting shed for patients and their families to enjoy.
