Christmas Comes Early for Caroline Thorpe Children’s Ward

THIS WEEK has been a wonderful day of toy donations on the  Caroline Thorpe Children Ward.   BARNSTAPLE MAN, 46 year old David Turner has made dreams come true for the children’s ward at North Devon District Hospital.

David’s brother Shaun sadly passed away in September but a few days before he passed away he asked David to bring to fruition 10 good wishes.  One of those special wishes was to give the children on the Caroline Thorpe Children’s ward a present for Christmas.

David kept his word and purchased over £2,000 of toys and this week he brought them into the hospital. The majority of the toys were purchased from local toy shop, Youings, in Barnstaple, who were so impressed by David’s kindness that they gave him an excellent discount on his purchases.   David also purchased twenty £5 Boots the Chemist vouchers for the ward and Boots the Chemist gave him some gifts for the children.

David said “I’m really pleased that the children will have something nice at Christmas.  It was what my brother would have wanted.  I found it quite difficult to know which toys to pick but Youings Toy Shop assistants and the Caroline Thorpe Ward Play Leader helped me.  There is such a big selection I think the children will like what we chose for them.”
