Accountants and Business Advisors jubilant at Chemotherapy Appeal cycle success

A team of accountants and business advisors completed a 200-mile weekend cycle challenge to raise money for the Chemotherapy Appeal.

Members of staff from Maynard Johns in Bideford, led by company director Edward Johns, and members of the Bideford & Barnstaple Round Table set off from Bideford Quay on Friday, September 26, and headedOLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA for Land’s End, before returning and finishing at Hartland Quay two days later.

The team, which also includes Jason Cox, Peter Quincy, Caroline Bramwell, Oliver Keates, Paul Jarrett and Barnstaple Round Table chairman Darrel Gill, raised an amazing total of £4546.50. This was officially presented at a special event on Saturday 29th November in Bideford.

Edward, 40, was inspired to set up the challenge by his sister Jane Maynard, a fellow partner at the company, who used the chemotherapy unit two years ago.

“My sister had the misfortune of needing to use the facility a couple of years ago and we’re very happy that she’s fully recovered and back working with us,” he said.

“Her main comment coming out was ‘there’s not enough space’ and obviously the new unit will help – to do a little bit to help towards it makes us feel very proud,” he added.

Ian Roome, Fundraising Manager said” This is a significant amount of money to raise and our charity is really grateful to everyone who put a tremendous effort into the event to raise such a fantastic amount of money.”
