Sponsorship:

We hope you will raise sponsorship for our NHS hospital charity “Over and Above” raising funds to benefit the patients that the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust cares for.   This year we are raising funds towards our £1.5million Cancer and Wellbeing Centre Appeal to support our cancer patients with a drop in facility, counselling, massage, and much more, and we will also be building a relatives accommodation wing.  We recently raised £2.5million to build the new Seamoor Chemotherapy & Day Treatment Unit which has made a difference to 9,000 cancer patients, and last year we raised £250,000 for our Special Care Baby Unit providing state-of-the-art equipment to care for our sickest and most vulnerable babies.  We are of course also continuing to support all our other 90 trust funds.  Your sponsorship really will make a difference.

We would be grateful if you could try and RAISE a further £35 sponsorship or more for our hospital charity “Over and Above” which will be used to purchase much needed equipment at our hospital.  If every participant raised £35, together you would raise an additional £10,000 to help our patients – wow!   Just set up a Just Giving account or download a sponsor form and bring to Event Registration on the day.   A PRIZE for the person who raises the most!

Fancy dress:

Go on! WILD WEST characters is the theme  … dress as cowboys, Indians – it could be even a West Country wild west character – you can be whatever you want to be … we want to see you there.  PRIZE for the BEST – the winner will go home with a trophy.

Car parking:

Car parking is available at the start of the event at around £4 all day (half the price of regular car parking in Croyde at that time of year!) Please note, when the car park is full it will be your responsibility to find alternative parking.  It is a circular route, so the route ends at the start so you don’t need to find transport back to your car at the end.

The route:

Go here

Don’t forget to take with you:

A water bottle, energy bars, running shoes (or good walking boots if you are walking), a basic first aid kit, appropriate clothing for the run (if it looks like rain, wear a waterproof jacket), take sun-cream (if the weather is hot) and don’t forget to bring a charged mobile phone – remember to put our contact number on it 078 91 203 572.

You should not get lost because the route will be well signed and  marshalled but by putting our mobile number into your phone you have the opportunity to contact us if you need assistance.

Toilets

There are toilet facilities at the beach (immediately opposite the start).

Rules:

Please read and abide by the Rules.  They are there for your safety.  Please note the event is for entrants aged 18 years+ only.  No dogs, as they are not permitted on parts of the route.

Prizes:

This is not a timed event because runners and walkers will be stopping along the route to taste delicious local produce.

In addition, there will be a prize for the person who raises the most sponsorship.  The winner will go home with The Webbers Estate Agent trophy and a trophy will be awarded for the best dressed Wild West character (go on, you know you want to!).

Your safety:

Your safety is important to us.  This trail is challenging in places – it is up and over Devon hills.  It is your responsibility to be physically fit and capable of completing the whole trail. Please ensure you wear appropriate footwear and clothing, take water and a charged mobile phone.

The event is insured with Arthur J Gallagher & Co.  Our insurance policy no is RKL23413/09/0476 and includes £5m public liability insurance and £10m employees liability insurance.

Getting there

By Car

Leave the M5 at junction 27 and follow the North Devon link road (A361) to Barnstaple.  From Barnstaple continue along the A361 towards Braunton and Ilfracombe (signposted).  In the centre of Braunton village, turn left after 2nd set of traffic lights onto the B3231, signposted Saunton and Croyde.  Continue along the B3231 coastal road to Croyde Village.  For sat nav purposes put in EX33 1NP which takes you very close to the start.

Car parking is only around £4.00 all day which is a bargain price in Croyde at this time of the year.  Please do not park on the roadside or on private property as this will upset our neighbours and you may get clamped!
